Besides the art by Drew Struzan for the Big Trouble in Little China poster, any ideas on the other illustrators? Thanks
That's a good question. It's surprisingly difficult to find out who painted some movie posters sometimes. Off the top of my head though, Struzan also did a few of the others, including Hook, The Goodies and The Muppet Movie. Richard Amsel did the first poster for Raiders of the Lost Ark. Robert McGinnis did a couple of the Bond posters (OHMSS, and Live and Let Die, I think). Bob Peak did at least one other - The Spy Who Loved Me, and possibly Diamonds are Forever. Peak also did the first few Star Trek films, and I think he also did the first Nightmare on Elm Street. Finally, the Jaws poster was by Roger Kastel. And that exhausts my knowledge without doing any real research.
Goodies should read Goonies. Autocorrect.
We don't know all of them, but know a bunch. Let us know if there is one in particular you're interested in.
McGinnis actually painted the poster for DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (they had him repaint Connery slightly to be taller than the women flanking him).
Also, it was Matthew Joseph Peak that painted the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET poster, but it was Bob Peak that painted ENTER THE DRAGON. :-)
Thank you Arnie - got my Peaks muddled.
I've always wondered who was the artist on the Jaws poster, and if you know who did "Moonraker" in the Bond series. Thanks for the great posts!
Dan Goozee is the artist for MOONRAKER.
Ahh, found Roger Kastel, artist for Jaws, as well as the original Empire Strikes Back Poster.
Inherent Vice? Isn't an 80's movie??
oh sorry - read that wrong... lol - Thought it was 80's Textless Movie Posters ... sorry :-)
